Senior IBM i (Cobol) Developer

IBM i (COBOL/400 / iSeries) professional

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assists in the design, development, and testing.
  
• Maintenance of software systems.
  
• Investigating production issues, should be through in investigating batch issues.
  
• Weekend support for Batch jobs Errors/MSGW when required.
  
• Assist other development/support staff in troubleshooting application issues and providing
  

assistance in resolving hard-to-find defects

• Keep immediate manager or Team Lead informed on all project updates and changes.
  
• Provides night support for applications and systems as and when required.
  
• Participate in code reviews on work produced by other team members and work closely with
  

QA to perform test plan reviews.

• Proactively play a supporting role in managing our clients expectations, concerns, and/or
  

questions.

• Performs various levels of testing to ensure correctness of software systems.
  
• Seek continual improvement and engagement of our clients.
  
• Respect SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
  
• Documents new and existing applications and systems through a combination of textual
  

explanations and visual diagrams of varying levels of detail depending on the target audience.

• Researches and stays current on the latest trends in software development and related
  

technology.

• Learns our products, and related technologies, to increase the ability to support and maintain
  

our client needs.

Technical Proficiencies (languages, tools, systems, etc.)

• Proven hands-on Software Development experience on IBMi (COBOL/400)
  
• Hands on experience of handling batch jobs, investigating & troubleshooting MSGWs and
  

Production issues.

• Experience primarily with COBOL/400, CL, CLLE programming and analysis
  
• DB2/400 Database, File system
  
• Knowledge of Aldon
  
• Knowledge of X-analysis will be add on
  
• Knowledge of ticket handling system Jira
  
• Knowledge of IFS (integrated file system)
  
• Experience with RPG will be add on
  
• Experience with relational database, including SQL

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering/ MCA
• 5-10 Years of relevant experience
