Position Summary: As a Senior Engineering Manager on the Supply Chain Management (SCM) team, you will be a key driver and enabler in fundamentally shifting how we design and build software throughout its lifecycle. You will lead, mentor, and empower a team of two Scrum Teams, fostering a culture of mutual respect, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making. This role demands a leader with proven experience in building and leading high-performing development teams, alongside a strong ability to drive best practices in the software delivery lifecycle, architectural design, and the adoption of engineering metrics. Key Responsibilities: End-to-End Ownership: Own deliverables end-to-end per plan, working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes. Team Leadership & Management: Manage, mentor, and provide strong leadership to a team comprising two Scrum Teams. Agile Enablement: Effectively run scrum ceremonies and build high-performing Agile teams. Coaching & Empowerment: Empower, challenge, and coach team members to grow their impact as individual technical leaders by providing context and continuous feedback. Culture & Collaboration: Foster a culture of mutual respect, collaboration, and data-driven, consensus-based decision-making within and across teams. Technical Mentorship: Mentor and lead other engineers on the team to deliver high-quality features and enhancements. Architectural Vision: Define and own high-level architecture designs and the technology roadmap with associated release goals. Innovation & POCs: Define and help develop Proofs of Concept (POCs) for new and upcoming strategic technology solutions. Engineering Best Practices: Define team-wide engineering best practices and establish mechanisms to measure their adoption. Technical Alignment: Drive technical architecture conversations and ensure alignment with platform teams. Capacity & Recruitment: Plan for team capacity and actively contribute to the recruitment of high-quality colleagues. External Representation: Represent the team in internal and external technology events and conferences. Metrics & Performance: Define and drive the adoption of engineering metrics across the teams to ensure continuous improvement and measurable impact. Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience: 12+ years of experience in software engineering. Full Stack Knowledge: Proficiency with any UI stack (React, Angular, and/or Vue) and .Net technologies. Open-Source: Experience analyzing, building, and implementing open-source technologies, with a strong preference for Open-Source experience. UX & UI Driving: Experience in driving UX improvements, efficient UI development, and metrics-driven improvements. Data & APIs: Experience with datastores (SQL, NoSQL, etc.), API, and event-based technologies (Kafka). Microservices: Strong understanding of microservice-based architectures and how to achieve composability. Test-Driven Development: Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) approaches. Scalability & Performance: Experience delivering solutions that operate with large volumes of data and strict non-functional requirements around performance, flexibility, and scalability. Cloud Platforms: Experience delivering solutions leveraging at least one leading cloud platform. Broad Technical Knowledge: Broad knowledge of programming languages, operating system principles, and software development best practices. Team Leadership: Experience building and leading high-performing remote engineering teams with high degrees of psychological safety. Feedback & Communication: Proactively gives and receives feedback; is not afraid to have difficult conversations. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to drive conversations across multiple teams to a conclusion. Ambiguity Navigation: Ability to seek different perspectives and relevant context to effectively navigate ambiguity. Inclusive Culture: Ability to foster an inclusive team culture that enables team members of all backgrounds to succeed and thrive. Technical Translation: Experience developing and reviewing complex technical requirements and translating them into actionable tasks for engineers. Cross-Functional Project Leadership: Experience leading cross-functional projects and serving as a main Point of Contact (POC) for their team across a large organization. Architectural Leadership: Experience driving end-to-end architectural discussions across teams and organizations. Distributed Systems: Experience in helping lead development lifecycle processes, best practices, and operating distributed cloud-based microservices. Large Project Design: Experience in designing systems or components on large projects (e.g., 5 million USD scale).
