Description
Role & responsibilities 1. Layout Development: Design and optimise coal and material handling layouts for thermal power plants to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness and ease of operation. Ensure designs meet operational goals and adhere to best industry practices. 2. Power Calculations: Perform detailed power calculations for conveyor systems, stacker reclaimers, and other key equipment, ensuring that systems meet plant power requirements and operational standards. 3. Equipment Sizing: Accurately size critical equipment including conveyors, crushers, screens, wagon tipplers, paddle feeders, stacker reclaimers, etc. Ensure all equipment complies with project specifications, industry standards and regulatory requirements. 4. Design Basis Report (DBR) Preparation: Develop comprehensive DBRs outlining design assumptions, operational parameters, environmental considerations, and safety standards for material handling systems. 5. Equipment Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate equipment based on technical performance, reliability, and cost efficiency. Collaborate with vendors and suppliers for technical discussions, clarifications and product selection. 6. Detailed Engineering Drawings: Lead the creation and review of detailed engineering drawings for all systems and components ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance with project requirements and industry standards. 7. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers in developing high quality, innovative solutions. Oversee team performance and ensure timely delivery of engineering tasks and project milestones. 8. System Components Expertise: Provide expert guidance on systems such as conveying, stacker reclaimers, wagon tipplers, crushers, screens, and paddle feeders. Offer troubleshooting support and ensure system integration aligns with overall project objectives. 9. Fabrication Drawing Review: Review and approve fabrication drawings ensuring manufacturability, accuracy and adherence to design standards. Oversee quality checks to meet technical and safety requirements. 10. Department Coordination: Collaborate effectively with electrical, civil and other engineering departments to ensure smooth interdisciplinary integration across all project phases. Facilitate communication and maintain alignment between different engineering teams. 11. Bill of Materials (BOM): Prepare and validate detailed Bill of Materials for material handling systems ensuring comprehensive coverage of all project needs. Ensure accuracy and consistency in BOM documentation for procurement and fabrication processes. 12. Proposal Support: Assist in preparing technical and commercial offers for tenders and proposals. Provide engineering inputs to strengthen the companys bid ensuring alignment with client specifications and requirements. Preferred candidate profile Skills and Competencies: Expertise: Extensive experience in designing and optimising coal/lignite & lime handling systems for thermal power plants. Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of conveying systems, stacker reclaimers, wagon tipplers, crushers, screens, and paddle feeders. Design Tools: Hands-on experience with design tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar engineering software. Analytical Skills: Strong understanding of power calculations, material flow dynamics, and equipment sizing. Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor and manage cross functional teams. Collaboration: Exceptional communication and coordination skills for effective cross-departmental collaboration. Attention to detail: Strong focus on accuracy in design reviews, loading data, fabrication checks, and project execution. Preferred Qualifications: Industry experience: Prior experience working on large-scale thermal power plant projects. Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with international design standards and codes. Vendor management: Experience in vendor coordination, technical negotiations and procurement processes.
