**Job Description:** As a Senior Database Administrator on a 6-month contract with an innovative entity in the insurance industry based in Hyderabad, India, your role will involve the installation, configuration, and administration of databases to meet business requirements. Your primary responsibilities will include: - **Database Management:** - Install, configure, and upgrade database software and tools - Monitor and tune database performance regularly - Configure automation of tasks - Create and fine-tune databases as per internal stakeholders" requirements - **Data Integrity and Availability:** - Ensure high availability of databases and minimize downtime - Manage data replication and mirroring - Plan and configure high availability and disaster recovery environment - **Data Security:** - Implement data security policies to protect sensitive information - Conduct regular backups and disaster recovery planning - **Performance Optimization:** - Monitor and optimize the performance of database systems - Resolve performance bottlenecks and improve query efficiency - **User Access and Roles:** - Define and manage user roles, permissions, and access levels - Address issues related to data access and connectivity - **Database Design and Development:** - Collaborate with developers to design and implement efficient database solutions - Assist in database schema design and data modeling - Experience in database migrations when required - **Compliance and Documentation:** - Ensure databases meet compliance standards and regulations - Document database configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures - **Incident Management:** - Respond to and resolve database-related incidents and service requests within defined SLA - Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and apply permanent fixes **Qualifications Required:** - 10+ years of IT experience - Minimum 8 years of experience as a DB administrator in a reputed organization - Technical proficiency in MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and other open-source databases - Knowledge of server operating systems and hardware components - Experience in backup/recovery, performance tuning, and database optimization - Understanding of cloud database services - Available to work from the office in Hyderabad and join within 1 week **Additional Details:** You may need to work occasionally on-call, weekends, or in shifts for database-related emergencies.
