Senior Consultant

As a PostgreSQL DBA Consultant at Navisite, you will be a key member of the Managed Services Team, focusing primarily on Postgre SQL infrastructure components. Your role will involve delivering end-to-end PostgreS Infrastructure engagements, including assessments and migrations. Here are the key responsibilities for this role: - Advise the customer on best practices related to PostgreSQL databases and servers - Implement best practices to ensure optimal performance of PostgreSQL Databases - Interface and communicate effectively with customers - Participate in an on-call rotation schedule - Install and configure PostgreSQL as per the project requirements - Document processes and procedures for future reference - Implement and support Log Shipping for data redundancy - Implement and support Failover Solutions for high availability - Implement and support Replication for data distribution - Participate in migrations for customers as needed - Participate in upgrades of PostgreSQL versions - Keep time entry up to date within 24 hours for accurate tracking - Advise customers on hardware and licensing questions related to PostgreSQL - Ensure customers have appropriate maintenance in place, including backups, index maintenance, and routine vacuuming - Perform performance tuning activities to optimize PostgreSQL database performance - Continuously learn new skills required for being a PostgreSQL DBA as technology evolves - Stay up to date with new releases of PostgreSQL and advise customers on relevant aspects Qualifications required for this role include: - Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
