Position Overview
The Senior Chemist will play a pivotal role in developing and formulating high-quality skin care, cosmetics, and oral care products that align with HCP Wellness s standards of excellence and innovation This position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and creativity to drive product development from concept to market while ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards
Key Responsibilities
Lead the formulation and development of new skin care, cosmetics, and oral care products, ensuring alignment with client specifications and market trends Conduct stability, compatibility, and performance testing to ensure product safety, efficacy, and shelf-life Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and marketing, to translate concepts into scalable, manufacturable products Stay updated on industry trends, raw materials, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, and other relevant standards Optimize existing formulations to improve performance, cost-efficiency, or sustainability Mentor junior chemists, providing guidance on formulation techniques and best practices Document all processes, formulations, and test results accurately for intellectual property and regulatory purposes Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, incorporating eco-friendly and innovative ingredients
Qualifications
Education/Certifications
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, or a related field Certification in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or Cosmetic Science (eg SCC or IFSCC) is a plus
Hard Skills
Expertise in cosmetic and personal care product formulation, including emulsions, gels, creams, and oral care solutions Proficiency in analytical techniques (eg HPLC, GC-MS, FTIR) for raw material and product testing Knowledge of regulatory standards (eg FDA, EU Cosmetics Regulation, ISO 22716) Experience with scale-up processes from lab to production Familiarity with sustainable and natural ingredient sourcing
Soft Skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address formulation challenges Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse teams and clients Leadership and mentorship abilities to guide junior team members Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and precision Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment
Preferred Experience
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in cosmetic, skin care, or oral care product formulation, preferably in a private label manufacturing setting Proven track record of successfully launching products from concept to market Experience working with natural, organic, or eco-friendly ingredients Prior leadership or supervisory experience in an R&D or formulation team
