Role Overview

Senior Backend + AI Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Backend Engineering

• Architect, design, and develop backend services using

  Python or Node.js

  .
• Build secure REST APIs, integrate third-party services, and implement OAuth 2.0.
• Design scalable PostgreSQL schemas, optimize queries, and implement row-level security.
• Build search pipelines using

  PostgreSQL full-text search

  or

  Elasticsearch

  .

AI/NLP Development

• Implement semantic search, contextual retrieval, and document understanding.
• Work with

  OpenAI, Anthropic Claude

  , and vector database integrations.
• Develop RAG-style search workflows for structured and unstructured medical data.
• Apply NLP for entity extraction, query understanding, and classification tasks.

Healthcare Data Engineering

• Integrate

  FHIR R4

  , HL7, and EHR system data (Epic, Cerner, Athena, etc.).
• Work on HIPAA/GDPR-compliant systems and secure PHI data workflows.

DevOps & Cloud

• Deploy services using Docker, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure.
• Implement secure, compliant, and scalable API environments.

Must-Have Skills

• 5+ years backend engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in

  Python or Node.js

  .
• PostgreSQL optimization, indexing, and schema design.
• Semantic search + NLP experience (OpenAI/Claude or similar APIs).
• FHIR or healthcare data experience (critical).
• Experience with security, encryption, PHI data, and compliance.
• API integrations, OAuth, and multi-tenant architectures.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with

  LangChain

  , vector DBs, or RAG architectures.
• EHR system integrations.
• Search-heavy application experience.
• Cloud infra experience with AWS/GCP/Azure.
