Senior Backend Engineer

We are looking for an experienced backend engineer to join our team building cutting-edge SaaS products at scale. You will work on core backend systems and services that power our products designed to scale for billions of end-users, processing terabyte scale data everyday.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain efficient, reusable and reliable backend systems and services
• Optimize performance and scalability of backend infrastructure and services
• Participate in architecture reviews and technical decision making on backend systems
• Diagnose and debug production issues and implement fixes
• Automate tasks through appropriate use of scripting and tooling
• Collaborate with other engineers and product managers to understand requirements and deliver solutions

Requirements

• 4+ years experience designing, building and operating backend systems and services
• Expertise with Java, Golang or Rust
• Experience with GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Cassandra/NoSQL
• Strong grasp of microservices, distributed systems, and cloud native architecture
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, alerting
• Ability to write clean, well-documented and well-tested code
• Knowledge of best practices around security, reliability and scalability

Nice to Have

• Experience with high-throughput, low-latency systems
• Knowledge of gRPC and Protocol Buffers
• Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd)
• Contributions to open-source backend projects
• Understanding of database internals and query optimization
• Experience with event-driven architectures
