You will work on core backend systems and services that power our products designed to scale for billions of end-users, processing terabyte scale data everyday. Responsibilities Design, build and maintain efficient, reusable and reliable backend systems and services Optimize performance and scalability of backend infrastructure and services Participate in architecture reviews and technical decision making on backend systems Diagnose and debug production issues and implement fixes Automate tasks through appropriate use of scripting and tooling Collaborate with other engineers and product managers to understand requirements and deliver solutions Requirements 4+ years experience designing, building and operating backend systems and services Expertise with Java, Golang or Rust Experience with GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Cassandra/NoSQL Strong grasp of microservices, distributed systems, and cloud native architecture Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, alerting Ability to write clean, well-documented and well-tested code Knowledge of best practices around security, reliability and scalability Nice to Have Experience with high-throughput, low-latency systems Knowledge of gRPC and Protocol Buffers Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd) Contributions to open-source backend projects Understanding of database internals and query optimization Experience with event-driven architectures
