Senior Automation Test Lead

Position Purpose

The Senior Automation Test Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing automation and functional test solutions for enterprise-scale Banking applications. This role involves owning the automation strategy, building scalable test frameworks, performing functional and regression testing, and coordinating closely with onshore and offshore stakeholders to ensure high-quality deliverables.

The candidate must thrive in a fast-paced Agile environment and demonstrate strong technical expertise, domain knowledge, leadership, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Automation & Technical Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for

  UI, API, and Integration testing

  .
• Develop automated test scripts using

  Selenium / Playwright / Cypress

  and

  API automation tools (REST Assured / Postman / Karate)

  .
• Implement and maintain

  BDD frameworks using Cucumber & Gherkin

  .
• Integrate automation suites with

  CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)

  .
• Review automation code and ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices.
  
• Drive continuous improvement in automation coverage, execution efficiency, and reliability.
  
• Estimate automation efforts and provide accurate delivery timelines.
  

Functional & Regression Testing

• Analyze functional specifications and business requirements.
  
• Design and execute

  functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, and sanity test cases

  .
• Maintain and update regression test packs.
  
• Perform

  SQL and database validation

  as part of backend testing.
• Identify gaps or ambiguities in requirements and work with BA/Dev teams for clarification.
  

Technical & Behavioral Competencies:

• 9+ years

  of overall experience in Quality Assurance.

• 5+ years

  of strong hands-on experience in

  Automation Testing

  .

• 3+ years

  of experience in

  Functional & Regression testing of Banking applications

  .
• Strong expertise in

  Java

  (preferred) or

  Python / JavaScript

  for automation.
• Hands-on experience with:
  

• Selenium / Playwright / Cypress

• REST API Automation REST Assured / Postman / Karate

• TestNG / JUnit / PyTest

• BDD Cucumber (Gherkin-based frameworks)

• Experience with

  Maven, Jenkins, Git/Bitbucket

• Strong knowledge of

  SQL and database testing (Oracle / MS SQL)

  .
• Experience with

  test management and defect tracking tools JIRA, ALM

  .
• Strong understanding of

  SDLC, STLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies

  .
• Banking domain knowledge is

  mandatory

  (KYC, AML, CRM, PeopleSoft preferred).

Good-to-Have Skills

• Exposure to

  Performance Testing

  (JMeter / Gatling / LoadRunner).
• Basic knowledge of

  Security Testing

  concepts.
• Experience with

  Tosca

  or

  Python-based automation

  .
• Experience working in

  FinTech, Banking, or E-commerce domains

  .

Qualifications:

• Overall

  9+ years

  in QA roles.
• Proven experience in

  Automation Framework Design (Hybrid / Data-driven)

  .
• Working knowledge of at least one database (

  Oracle / MS SQL

  ).
• Prior experience leading automation efforts or small QA teams is a plus.
