Senior Appian Developer

As a Senior Appian Developer at NewlightSolutions, you will play a crucial role in leading the full-cycle delivery of mission-critical low-code systems using Appian as the primary platform. Your responsibilities will include architecture, implementation, quality assurance, and client demonstrations. You will also mentor mid-level engineers, establish development standards, and drive continuous improvement as the company scales. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design and develop performant Appian applications including data models, process models, interfaces, Records, Sites, and role-based security. - Facilitate requirement-gathering workshops and translate business objectives into detailed technical specifications and user stories. - Prepare workload estimates, sprint plans, and resource forecasts to ensure predictable delivery. - Define and enforce Appian design patterns, coding standards, and naming conventions across all project artifacts. - Conduct performance tuning, load testing, and capacity planning to ensure applications scale reliably. - Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for internal teams and client stakeholders. - Coordinate environment management including version control, package migration, and hotfix rollouts in collaboration with DevOps. - Manage change control logs, assess delivery risks, and drive remediation plans proactively. - Stay updated on emerging Appian features and industry trends; recommend platform upgrades or POCs that add measurable value. **Required Qualifications:** - 4+ years of end-to-end Appian delivery with at least two full production go-lives; Level 2 certification mandatory, Level 3 strongly preferred. - Proficiency in the full Appian feature set including SAIL interfaces, Records, Data Fabric, Sites, Process Models, Decision Objects, and role-based security. - Integration expertise in REST/SOAP APIs, RDBMS, OAuth2 / OIDC, SAML SSO, and webhooks. - Hands-on development of Appian plugins in Java; proficiency in Python or JavaScript is a plus. - Demonstrated senior developer capability with experience in code reviews, mentoring, and Agile ceremonies. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical decisions into clear business impact. **Preferred Qualifications:** - Experience with embedding OpenAI / AzureOpenAI or AI Skills into Appian solutions. - Familiarity with Mendix, Microsoft PowerPlatform, or microservices architectures. - Prior technical lead or mentorship experience in Agile delivery teams.
