Job Description

The role involves performing thorough analyses, preparing supporting documentation for research, explaining variances, and identifying discrepancies with corrective action plans. The candidate will support Business Segments during month/quarter close by preparing and posting journal entries, extracting reports from multiple systems, and conducting analyses.

They should be able to assess and interpret customer needs, identify solutions for non-standard requests, and solve moderately complex problems with minimal guidance. Innovation, process improvement, adaptability to ad-hoc tasks, strong communication, and teamwork are essential for success.

Job Components

  • Own primary responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of assigned deliverables
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for producing financial statements and reports
  • Reconcile, analyze, and review general ledger accounts for month-end close cycles
  • Prepare journal entries and review accounting classifications in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations (BlackLine) and identify/research reconciling items
  • Own primary responsibility for fulfilling internal and external audit requests
  • Perform ad hoc reporting, analysis, and investigate issues with clear explanations and interpretation
  • Work effectively in both team-oriented and self-directed environments
  • Handle less structured and moderately complex issues with independence
  • Serve as a resource to others within the Controllership, including U.S.-based staff
  • Collaborate with team members on special projects as needed

Required Skills

  • B.Com/M.Com, MBA Finance, CA Inter, or equivalent experience (810 years)
  • 8+ years of professional accounting, reporting, and analysis experience
  • Solid understanding of

    U.S. GAAP

    and financial statements
  • Experience with reporting tools such as

    Essbase

    ,

    SmartView

    , and

    PeopleSoft/Oracle General Ledger

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced Excel, Power BI, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with general ledger/sub-ledger accounting applications
  • Strong analytical skills with hands-on exposure to variance analysis & commentary writing
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to anticipate customer needs and proactively develop solutions
  • Experience performing ad hoc reporting and complex analysis

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Finance experience in the insurance industry (health insurance preferred)

Educational Qualifications

  • B.Com / M.Com / MBA Finance / CA Intermediate
