Job Title: Protein Sciences Specialist - Purification/Downstream Processing

Education & Experience:

• Masters degree in any area of Life Science.
• 3-6 years of experience focusing on protein sciences, especially purification and downstream processing.

Business Understanding:

• Ability to apply knowledge in protein purification processes relevant to biologics and biotech manufacturing.

Knowledge Requirements:

• Strong fundamentals of protein structure and function.
• Expertise in chromatography systems (e.g., AKTA) and various chromatography methods applied to different protein types.
• Protein characterization and determination of physico-chemical properties.
• Bio-conjugation techniques including cysteine conjugation, lysine conjugation, and linker technologies.
• Protein stability analysis in discovery setups.
• Scale-up experience of protein purification up to gram quantities.
• Handling challenging proteins such as membrane proteins and multi-subunit proteins.
• Experience with inclusion body refolding.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Execute protein purification and downstream processing workflows using chromatographic methods.
• Perform protein characterization and stability studies to ensure quality and functionality.
• Optimize and scale up purification processes for diverse proteins including complex membrane proteins.
• Apply bio-conjugation methods as required in process development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support discovery and manufacturing objectives.
• Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Support process improvement initiatives and contribute to technology transfer activities.
• Mentor junior team members and facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
