Role Overview:

A library is more than a collection of booksit's a gateway to imagination, learning, and curiosity. As a Librarian, you will play a vital role in making the library a vibrant, accessible, and engaging space for all students. Your responsibilities will go beyond managing resources to creating meaningful experiences that ignite a lifelong love for reading.

Key Responsibilities:

• Library Management & Organization
• Oversee the acquisition, cataloguing, and maintenance of books and digital resources.
• Ensure materials are shelved correctly using appropriate library classification systems.
• Keep the library well-organized, visually appealing, and welcoming to students and staff.
• Manage library automation systems and maintain accurate records.
• Student Engagement & Support
• Assist students in selecting age-appropriate and interest-based reading materials.
• Suggest reading options based on individual preferences and learning levels.
• Encourage students to explore new genres and authors.
• Listen actively to students to understand their reading interests and help guide their selections.
• Library Promotion & Activities
• Organize engaging events such as reading programs, book displays, and author sessions.
• Curate attractive shelf displays that highlight seasonal themes, popular titles, or new arrivals.
• Use visual merchandising techniques to make books more appealing and accessible.
• Promote library participation across the school through interactive reading challenges and campaigns.

Instruction & Guidance

• Guide students in using library resources effectively, including digital tools and databases.
• Provide basic research assistance and teach referencing skills.
• Encourage students to develop independent learning habits through reading and inquiry.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field.
• Prior experience in a school library setting is desirable.
• Proficiency in cataloguing, library management systems, and digital resources.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Basic computer operation skills and familiarity with library automation software.
• A genuine interest in working with children and supporting their educational journey.
