As a Reading Room Facilitator at the Museum of Solutions (MuSo) in Mumbai, you will have the opportunity to play a vital role in curating and managing the Library of Solutions (LiSo) at the museum. LiSo, situated on the 6th floor of MuSo, is a child-led lending library that offers books, videos, games, tools, and other resources related to the museum's mission. As a Reading Room Facilitator, you will be responsible for procuring, acquiring, and maintaining a comprehensive collection of materials suitable for children and young learners. Collaborating with educators and content experts, you will ensure that the library's collection aligns with the museum's mission and educational objectives. Your role will involve organizing and cataloging all library materials using a systematic approach, as well as developing and maintaining a user-friendly classification system to facilitate easy access to resources. You will implement and manage library software for cataloging, tracking, and user management, ensuring that the library space is well-maintained, welcoming, and conducive to learning. In addition to managing the library, you will provide guidance and support to visitors, especially students, in locating and effectively using resources. You will plan and execute educational programs, workshops, and reading sessions to promote literacy and a love for learning among visitors. By recommending age-appropriate materials and assisting visitors in accessing digital resources, you will foster a culture of reading and exploration at the museum. To be successful in this role, you should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library and Information Science or a related field. Previous experience working as a librarian in an educational institution, museum, or library is preferred. Proficiency in library management software and digital resource platforms is essential. Overview: VMRFDU is a premier multidisciplinary, privately managed institution of higher education, having a status of Deemed To be University, under section 3, of the University Grants Commission Act, and offers professional and general disciplines such Medical & Health Sciences, Engineering & Technologies, Business Administration, Law, and Sciences, Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, at undergraduate, postgraduate and research levels. 24 constituent institutions of VMRFDU are spread over four campuses, Chennai & Salem, in the state of Tamilnadu; and Puducherry and Karaikal campuses in the Union Territory of Puducherry. Each of the campuses has a central library, and several school or departmental libraries. While campus central libraries and departmental offer print resources to their respective communities, VMRFDU Digital Library is the common central resources for digital contents. Libraries at VMRFDU are served by a Central Resource Team, located at Universitys H.O., which has the following terms of reference: As part of Central Resources Team, be responsible for implementing Resource Provision Policy, generally coordinate with constituent institutions, and the University management, in fulfilling their requirement for library resources, and courseware specially in digital form. Be responsible for managing VMRF Digital Library (VDL), which would include administering an integrated platform for remote access and discovery of print and electronic materials. In association with other members of CRT, and librarians of constituent colleges endeavour to standardize, integrate and implement library technologies across all constituent institutions, so as to facilitate resource discovery and resource sharing, and develop a union catalogue of print and electronic resources of all VMRF libraries. To organize information literacy events for the faculty and students, and actively promote adoption of online learning material in curricula. To initiate and undertake implementation of Learning Management System, Research Data Management, and Institutional Repository for the VMRF Knowledge Base. To undertake new research and short-term courses in library and information services and related discipline. This position is one among several which makes the Central Resource Team Key Responsibilities: Assist the Central Resource Team, especially the Advisor, in reviewing and monitoring the progress on, a vision, strategies and, plans for the development of library services at Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation in general and its constituent institutions in particular.. Coordinate with Librarians of constituent colleges in collection of data on resources and their utilization, information requirements of the faculty and students collected through online surveys, feedbacks, personal meetings and other means. Assist CRT in moderating and balancing such needs and work with the Central Resource Team, Heads of the constituent institutions, to implement the agreed strategies, and execute the specified plans. To propose and execute, with the consent of management of VMRF and constituent institutions, a framework of integration of library resources and services through technological initiatives and continuous interaction among library professionals, users and administrators of constituent institutions. To coordinate with the service providers for effective management of VMRF Digital Library, and generate relevant usage data for the benefit of the management of VMRFDU and constituent colleges. Under the guidance of Advisor, Libraries and in coordination with other members of the Central Resource Team, synergise the development of print and digital library resources. To help the University administration in development of VMRF Libraries by Implementing a quality management system across VMRF Libraries through performance standards and process optimization from various VMRF Libraries; so that VMRF Libraries, always remain compliant with standards prescribed by the regulating bodies . as well as internal standards, and play a pivotal role in attaining global standards. Take a leadership role in developing relevant policies, and standard operating procedures for VMRF Libraries, and ensure their timely and effective implementation across all libraries. Plan and organise process audits in VMRF Libraries, and present reports of such audits to the Institutional and University Management. To team up with other members of the Central Resource Team, and other VMRFDU Librarians to organise annual library meets, Coordinate the networking and resource sharing efforts among VMRF Libraries, explore possibility of resource sharing with other libraries in the region, and participate in the effort to develop a consortium of libraries. Organise meetings of VMRFDU Libraries Board, circulate agenda and minutes and do follow up on the decision made. Organise monthly meetings of the VMRFDU Librarians. Help University management in optimization of human resource provision for the libraries, organise staff development programmes, and oversee deployment of professional interns. To assist Central Resource Team and University administration in monitoring development of VMRF Libraries by consolidating, and preparing reports from various VMRF Libraries for VMRFDU Libraries Board. To serve or coordinate Research Support Services, and licensing of copyrighted material for use by VMRFDU Community. To compile and provide information digest/bulletins on technological trends and enable VMRFDU Research Community to generate new research ideas. To perform the digital initiatives or manage LMS as learning process To manage digital media platforms and repositories for VMRFDU libraries To manage or update the web site of VMRF Libraries Network. Contacts: As a member of Central Resource Team, the incumbent will interact regularly with the Advisor, Libraries, officers of the VMRFDU, including officers of the constituent institutions, Heads and other staff of VMRFDU Libraries, suppliers of library materials & services, and the other members of the Central Resource Team. Required Skills and Qualifications: A first-class masters degree in Library & Information Science, with at least three years experience in a leadership position in a reputed university or college. Knowledge and experience of managing digital library resources. High level of IT skills, Good communication skills. A Ph.D. in Library & Information Science and ability to communicate in Tamil will be an added advantage.
