Job Description

Safety Officer

Key Responsibilities

  • HSE Management & Compliance:

    Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive

    HSE policies and procedures

    aligned with railway and national regulations. Ensure compliance across operations, maintenance, and

    civil construction projects

    (e.g., track work, bridges, excavation).
  • Risk Mitigation & Inspection:

    Conduct thorough

    safety inspections and audits

    of infrastructure, equipment, and

    civil work sites

    . Lead

    Job Safety Analysis (JSA)

    and risk assessments for critical tasks (e.g., deep excavation, structural work), recommending effective control measures.
  • Incident & Emergency Management:

    Serve as the primary responder for incidents. Conduct detailed

    accident/incident investigations

    to determine root causes and develop corrective/preventive action plans (CAPA). Develop and conduct drills for the

    Emergency Response Plan (ERP)

    .
  • Safety Documentation & Reporting:

    Crucially, maintain comprehensive and legally compliant safety documentation

    , including:
    • Statutory Registers

      (Accident, Inspection, Lifting Equipment).
    • Permit-to-Work (PTW) System Records

      for critical tasks.
    • HSE Training Records

      and Audit Reports.
  • Training & Culture:

    Develop and deliver mandatory safety training programs. Promote a strong

    safety-first culture

    among employees and contractors.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Education:

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Safety Management.
    • Mandatory Certification:

      Recognized safety qualification (e.g., Diploma in Industrial Safety, NEBOSH, or equivalent).
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of

      5 years of relevant HSE experience

      is preferred.
    • Specific experience (5 years preferred) in the

      Railways sector

      is a significant advantage.
  • Technical Knowledge:

    In-depth knowledge of Indian safety statutes, including the

    BOCW Act

    , and applicable Railway Safety Rules. Proficiency in conducting HSE audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

    Demonstrated experience managing statutory safety documentation.

    Korba, Chhattisgarh
  • Preferred Experience:

    Proven experience managing HSE specifically for railway civil works

    , including track-related civil construction, bridge construction/rehabilitation, earthwork, and deep excavation.
