Safety Officer

1. Objectives of the position:

• Follow the guidance of the head of Application laboratory and relevant company

procedures and ensure to implement, monitor, and review safety procedures in the

Application Laboratory

2. Representative Main tasks:

a. General responsibility

• Implement and monitor safety measures as per the BASF guidelines.
• Identify gaps and ensure actions as appropriate to overcome.
• Establish procedures wherever necessary.
• Suggest methods to mitigate risks based on potentials.

b. Operational responsibility

• Inform Application Laboratory head and coordinate with maintenanceteam for any

modifications related to safety hazards.

• Coordinate with other EHS manager for changes in statutory requirements and their

implementation.

• Implement and maintain requirements of Process Safety and Occupational Safety. Support

the Application laboratory leader for documents related to RCMS.

• Reporting of all accidents / incidents / near miss / process safety incidents in GID, conducting

their RCA, and ensuring proper implementation of the actions arising out of it.

• Percolate data of safety issues from other BASF plants, sites across globe to the plant

personnel

1. Check and implement good practices from other plants, sites.

2. Take (wherever necessary)/suggest (if it is macro level) preventive actions

from learning and experience from other plants, sites incidents.

• Take lead and complete risk assessments of all the jobs in the Lab and monitor periodically

for any changes.

c. People management

• Train, develop and evaluate the supervisory staff and workmen regarding safety guidelines.
• Plan and execute training programs in coordination with site EHS manager.
• Get feedbacks at regular inervals to check for awareness.
• Align personnel to a common goal of safety with help from Application Laboratory.
• Suggest and motivate people to increase the alertness level for safety violations.
• Promptly inform the Application Laboratory of any safety violations.

d. Documentation and Records

• Prepare & Review all RCMS & EHS documents and records periodically and bring to notice

of any gaps to the Application Laboratory Team.

• Maintain Application Laboratory inspection records in coordination with Application

Laboratory Team(Safety Inspection /monthly reporting /MSDS etc..).

• Execute and monitor Near miss /Yellow card /BBSO for action taken and implementation.
• Actively involve and monitor the periodic changes and improvements in laboratory and

ensure that the MOCs are being followed.

3. Education & Qualification: • Bachelor of Engineering /Bachelor of Chemistry with diploma in safety. • Experience : min 4 yrs in EHS /RCMS audit 4.
