Rotogravure Printing Supervisor & Manager

Preferred candidate profile

• Hands-on experience with rotogravure printing machines (e.g., Pelican, Kohli,Uteco)
• Knowledge of inks, solvents, substrates (PET, BOPP, PE), and print defect types
• Ability to read job cards, shade references, and QC instructions
• Basic understanding of ERP entries and production documentation
• Team coordination, discipline enforcement, and shift planning
• In-depth knowledge of rotogravure printing process, inks, cylinders, and substrates (PET, BOPP, PE, etc.)
• Familiarity with CI/stack-type presses (e.g., Uteco, Windmller & Hlscher, Pelican, Kohli)
• Strong troubleshooting skills in print defects (ghosting, smudging, misregistration)
• Proficiency in ERP systems, production planning tools, and MS Excel
• Leadership, communication, and team-building capabilities

Role & responsibilities

Shift Operations & Execution

• Supervise rotogravure printing machines during assigned shifts (typically 812 hour shifts)
• Ensure timely job setups, shade matching, and print quality as per job cards and customer specs
• Monitor ink viscosity, cylinder alignment, and substrate compatibility during runs

Job Changeovers & Documentation

• Execute efficient job changeovers with minimal downtime and wastage
• Maintain shift-wise production logs, rejection reports, and ink/solvent usage records
• Ensure proper documentation of shade approvals and in-process quality checks

Production & Process Management

• Plan, schedule, and execute daily printing operations across multiple rotogravure machines (e.g., 810 color presses)
• Ensure optimal machine utilization, minimal downtime, and adherence to production targets
• Monitor print quality, registration, shade matching, and defect control as per customer specs

Quality & Compliance

• Implement and maintain SOPs for ink viscosity, shade approval, and job changeovers
• Coordinate with QA/QC for in-process checks, print trials, and customer approvals
• Ensure compliance with BRC, ISO, SEDEX/SMETA, and customer-specific audit protocols

Team Leadership

• Lead and train a team of operators, helpers, and shift incharges
• Conduct skill assessments, shift handovers, and performance reviews
• Drive a culture of safety, discipline, and continuous improvement on the shop floor

Technical & Maintenance Coordination

• Collaborate with maintenance for preventive and breakdown maintenance of printing machines
• Recommend upgrades, retrofits, and process automation to improve productivity

Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain daily production logs, downtime analysis, and ink/solvent consumption reports
• Track KPIs: OEE, rejection %, wastage %, machine uptime, and changeover time
• Support costing, budgeting, and MIS reporting for printing operations
