Job Description for Rigger – Mechanical (SID: Sponge Iron Division):

Department: Mechanical Maintenance
Experience Required: 3 – 6 Years (in Sponge Iron/Steel/Cement/Heavy Industry)
Qualification: ITI / Diploma in Mechanical / Certified Rigger Training preferred

Job Summary:

The Rigger will be responsible for lifting, shifting, and installation of heavy mechanical equipment in the Sponge Iron Division. The role involves safe rigging practices during maintenance, erection, and shutdown activities, ensuring smooth plant operations with zero accidents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform rigging activities for lifting, shifting, and aligning heavy equipment, machinery, and structural components.
• Assist in installation, dismantling, and maintenance of plant machinery (kilns, conveyors, crushers, etc.).
• Select appropriate lifting gears, wire ropes, slings, shackles, and ensure their safe use.
• Coordinate with crane operators, mechanical fitters, and supervisors for safe material handling.
• Inspect lifting tools and tackles regularly; report damage or defects.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOP) and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Support shutdown and breakdown maintenance activities requiring rigging support.
• Maintain proper records of rigging activities, tools, and lifting equipment inspections.
• Work as part of the maintenance team to ensure minimum downtime of plant.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of rigging practices in heavy industries.
• Ability to read load charts and estimate lifting requirements.
• Skilled in handling chain blocks, hoists, cranes, and other rigging tools.
• Good coordination with crane operators and mechanical teams.
• Strong awareness of safety practices in rigging and heavy lifting.
• Physically fit and able to work in challenging plant environments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
