Job Summary:

Restaurant Cashier

Key Responsibilities:

Cash Handling & Transactions:

  • Accurately process customer orders and handle payments (cash, credit/debit cards, UPI, etc.).
  • Issue receipts, change, or refunds to customers.
  • Balance cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly.
  • Resolve any discrepancies in cash and sales transactions.

Customer Service:

  • Greet and assist customers in a polite, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Answer customer inquiries regarding the menu, specials, and pricing.
  • Address customer complaints or concerns promptly and escalate to management when necessary.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with regular customers and ensure repeat visits.

Billing & Order Management:

  • Input orders accurately into the point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Communicate with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure timely and accurate service.
  • Ensure any discounts, promotions, or loyalty programs are applied properly.
  • Provide accurate change and process tips where applicable.

Store Cleanliness & Organization:

  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the cashier station and surrounding areas.
  • Assist with restocking the front-of-house area or organizing takeout orders during slow periods.
  • Ensure proper sanitization of the POS system, cash register, and other frequently touched surfaces.

Administrative & Reporting Duties:

  • Assist in preparing daily sales reports and ensuring accuracy in financial documentation.
  • Help with inventory tracking if required, such as monitoring stock of gift cards or receipt paper.
  • Assist with any other administrative tasks as requested by management.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in cash handling or customer service (restaurant or retail experience is preferred).
  • Strong numerical skills with the ability to handle transactions accurately.
  • Familiarity with POS systems or basic computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Friendly, approachable, and customer-focused attitude.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education in hospitality or business is a plus.
  • Knowledge of local and international payment systems (e.g., UPI, credit/debit cards, digital wallets).
  • Basic understanding of food and beverage service is an advantage.
