Job Overview

The R&D Formulation Specialist will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing innovative skincare, wellness, and beauty formulations This role requires a deep understanding of cosmetic chemistry, raw materials, and regulatory compliance to create high-performance private-label products that meet client and market demands

Key Responsibilities

Research, develop, and refine formulations for skincare, cosmetics, and oral care products (eg serums, creams, cleansers, masks, lip care, toothpaste) Conduct stability, compatibility, and efficacy testing to ensure product safety and performance Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, regulatory, production) to align formulations with client needs and industry trends Source and evaluate new raw materials, technologies, and sustainable ingredients Ensure compliance with global cosmetic regulations (eg FDA, EU, ISO, COSMOS, etc) Document formulation processes, batch records, and technical reports Troubleshoot production-scale challenges and optimize formulations for manufacturability Stay updated on emerging trends in skincare, wellness, and beauty innovation

Qualifications & Skills

Hard Skills:

Expertise in cosmetic chemistry, emulsion systems, and formulation science Proficiency in lab techniques (eg viscosity testing, pH adjustment, preservative efficacy testing) Knowledge of regulatory standards (eg INCI, GMP, ISO 22716) Experience with formulation software or database management is a plus

Soft Skills:

Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking Creativity in developing unique, marketable formulations Excellent communication for cross-team collaboration Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and safety

Education:

Bachelor s/Master s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field

Preferred Experience:

5+ years in R&D formulation within skincare, cosmetics, or personal care Familiarity with natural/organic formulations and sustainable practices
