Job Description

Role Overview: As a Functional Testing Engineer for AC protection functions in HVDC stations, you will be responsible for conducting tests according to IEC standards using secondary injection kits and real-time simulation environments. Your main task will be to ensure the certification of the functions through authorized external laboratories. Key Responsibilities: - Support global R&D projects by implementing and verifying the latest technology developments using Hardware in loop environments. - Set up and maintain the lab environment for various HVDC R&D projects. - Develop control and protection solutions for future HVDC technologies, ongoing projects, and other business units. - Create test cases using EMT tools for testing HVDC control and protection functions in a virtual environment. - Develop automated test solutions for AC protection functions in HVDC projects. - Design virtual unit testing solutions for HVDC protection functions. - Assist projects in resolving issues related to protection functions. - Conduct pre-studies for proposed control and protection ideas using EMT tools. - Propose new improvements to enhance business operations related to control and protection functions. - Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines, aligning with Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or Master's in Power Systems. - 2 to 8 years of relevant experience. - Knowledge of testing and commissioning of substation control and protection systems. - Understanding of different control and protection schematics in HV/LV electrical substations. - Basic knowledge of communication protocols like IEC61850, MODBUS, etc. - Experience in using secondary test kits such as Omicron, Doble, etc. - Familiarity with simulation software like PSCAD, MATLAB, and other electric power system simulators. - Knowledge of HVDC control and protection systems is a plus. - Experience in protection test case automation using scripts is advantageous.
