Job Description

Key Responsibilties :- Cost Estimation and Budgeting: QSs prepare detailed cost estimates, develop project budgets, and manage project costs throughout the lifecycle. Bill of Quantities (BoQ): They analyze architectural and engineering drawings to create detailed bills of quantities. Contract Management: They assist in preparing contract documents, including tenders and contracts. Variation and Claim Evaluation: They evaluate and negotiate variations and claims that arise during the project. Cost Control: They monitor project expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure costs align with the budget. On-site Measurements and Valuations: They conduct on-site measurements, valuations, and certifications of work completed. Project Reporting: They prepare regular financial reports, including cost-to-complete and budget vs. actual reports. Billing Engineer Responsibilities: Bill Preparation and Submission: Billing Engineers prepare and submit client bills and invoices according to agreed-upon schedules. Subcontractor Bill Management: They verify and approve subcontractor invoices and ensure timely payments. Material Reconciliation: They track material quantities, reconcile material usage, and identify potential wastage. Payment Processing: They manage the payment process, including preparing interim payment certificates and final accounts. Project Communication: They liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution. Financial Reporting: They prepare project financial reports, including progress reports and cash flow statements. Cost Tracking and Analysis: They track project expenditures, identify potential cost-saving opportunities, and analyze cost variations. In essence, a QS is a financial expert who manages the cost aspects of a project, while a Billing Engineer focuses on the financial documentation and payment processes related to a project. Both roles are crucial for successful project execution and cost management.
