The Quality Engineer is part of the Materials, Equipment, and Quality team within Chevron s ENGINE Center and provides support to Capital Projects and Business Unit Operations. This role will ensure Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) systems, tools, methodologies, governance, and assurance are operationalized to remain competitive, improve predictability, mitigate risk, and to help generate leading performance outcomes. This role provides subject matter expert level consulting services to project and business leaders and peers, to enable successful application of NDE tools and processes across the enterprise.
Key responsibilities:

Interface with downstream, upstream and projects worldwide in multiple time zones to provide guidance on advanced NDE methods in Ultrasonics, Electromagnetics and Radiography

Perform on-site advanced NDE inspections for critical Fitness-for-Service evaluations and cost optimization at BUs and Projects globally

Champion Non-Intrusive Inspections (NII) for manufacturing facilities and projects by providing guidance and performing advanced inspections for better turn around performance

Facilitate within Business Units and Projects using a risk-based approach Chevrons Performance Demonstration Qualification (PDQ) for contractor NDE personnel.

Provide detailed NDE procedure reviews and witness qualifications to applicable codes and standards

Deliver NDE training to BUs and Projects and Project partners such as EPCs in NDE methods and provide certification support.

Perform research and development on new and emerging NDE technologies that have a direct impact on process safety

Participate and be a core member of Chevrons Community of Practice (CoP) and participate in regional JIP and Consortiums in NDE area.

Develop and maintain risked based NDE management systems, plans, and tools with customers, and internal and external partners, and provide overall oversight and assurance to project and facility operations and turn around activities.

Oversee and participate in NDE Assurance activities and participate on cross functional teams and on industry committees. International travel and working outside of normal business hours shall be required to support customers.
Required Qualifications:

BS Engineering in one of the core disciplines - Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical from a recognized (AICTE) university

Advanced Ultrasonic and Electromagnetic certifications in Phased Array, Time of Flight Diffraction, Eddy Current/Remote field

Minimum of 3 ASNT or ISO Level III certifications

Successful passing of Chevron Performance Demonstration (PDQ) Qualifications or equivalent ASNT - ISQ examination.

Extensive knowledge of all applicable codes such as ASME, ISO, AWS, API, and DNV

Experience performing advanced ultrasonic procedure qualifications (PAUT) to ASME and API codes
Preferred Qualifications:

10+ years experience in Non-destructive testing, Asset Integrity and inspection area.

Previous representation and participation in industry committees such as API, ASME, and ASNT
-
Demonstrated working knowledge of corrosion damage mechanisms and how they affect fixed equipment.

Experience inspecting sub-sea pipeline welds utilizing automated ultrasonics and qualifying to industry standards

Hands on expertise on critical issues leveraging all advanced inspection techniques including Ultrasonics, Electromagnetics, Radiography.
