Job Summary:

The Quality Control (QC) Officer in the paint industry is responsible for ensuring that raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products meet specified quality standards and regulatory requirements. The role involves conducting laboratory tests, monitoring production processes, and documenting results to maintain consistent product quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quality checks on raw materials, in-process batches, and finished paint products.
  • Perform laboratory tests including viscosity, pH, specific gravity, gloss, color matching, and drying time.
  • Ensure all products comply with internal specifications and industry standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM).
  • Approve or reject raw materials and finished goods based on test results.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and timely QC documentation, including test results, batch records, and inspection reports.
  • Investigate and document any non-conformance or quality deviations; assist in root cause analysis.
  • Work closely with production and R&D departments to improve product formulations and resolve quality issues.
  • Monitor and enforce safety, hygiene, and environmental regulations in the lab and production areas.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and ensure readiness for customer and regulatory inspections.
  • Provide training to new lab staff or production personnel on QC procedures and standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must have Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a QC role, preferably in the paint, coatings, or chemical manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of paint manufacturing processes and raw materials (resins, pigments, solvents, additives).
  • Familiarity with laboratory testing equipment and procedures specific to paint quality control.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and report-writing abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
