Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Certified medical coders (AAPC/AHIMA) who should have worked 1 to 3 years into Ambulance, HCC, or Ancillary coding. Insurance guidelines experience would be an added advantage.
Identify medical necessity for Ambulance transfer services while adhering to the official coding guidelines and established client coding guidelines.
Adhere to and maintain required levels of performance in both coding quality and productivity.
Participate in coding department meetings and educational events.
Review and maintain a record of charts coded, held, and / or missing.
Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate coding.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Stay updated on changes in medical coding guidelines and regulations.
Strong knowledge of ICD-10 CM, CPT, HCPCS, Modifiers, updated ICD 1-CM guidelines.
Attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in related area required.

Have AAPC or AHIMA Credential with minimum 1-3 yrs of experience as a medical coding in healthcare setting.
Strong understanding of medical coding guidelines, including CPT, ICD-1O, HCPCS code sets, modifiers.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
