QC Underwriter

As an Underwriter, your role involves reviewing mortgage files submitted for underwriting, calculating income, analyzing debt and assets, and conducting a detailed review of appraisals and titles. Your responsibilities also include entering data into the loan operating system, utilizing automated underwriting systems, and providing excellent customer service to internal and external clients. You must possess strong organizational, communication, and PC skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment with a sense of urgency. **Key Responsibilities:** - Perform a thorough review of mortgage loan files, including income, assets, credit, and collateral - Ensure accurate data entry into the loan operating system - Underwrite loans based on client guidelines using automated underwriting systems or manual guidelines - Evaluate loan documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance - Identify and clear red flags or alerts - Issue loan decisions and condition files accordingly - Review and approve conditions for compliance and completion of loan files - Assist in resolving pre and post-closing issues related to underwriting - Provide support to Processors/Loan Officers in understanding underwriting decisions and conditions - Work in a high-stress environment while delivering excellent customer service - Be willing to work more than 40 hours on an as-needed basis **Qualifications:** - Minimum 2+ years of current conventional mortgage loan underwriting experience **Required Skills:** - Strong knowledge of income calculations, tax returns, credit reports, and identifying red flags - Basic understanding of appraisals and ability to recognize red flags and ineligible properties - Proficiency in GSE underwriting guidelines and automated underwriting engines (DU/LP) - Strong analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills - Detail-oriented with excellent time management abilities - Ability to work in a flexible and production-oriented environment - Willingness to work as part of a team and in multiple systems - NMLS-MLO Licensure preferred - Availability to work outside normal business hours when necessary The company, Mphasis, aims to be a driver for global enterprises by providing next-generation design, architecture, and engineering services.
