Role Overview: As a Purchase Manager specializing in Civil Materials, your primary responsibility is to oversee the procurement of construction materials essential for civil works on-site. You are tasked with ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality materials from reliable suppliers to meet project requirements. Key Responsibilities: - Material Planning: - Collaborate with the project team to determine material needs based on construction schedules. - Forecast demand and plan purchases to prevent delays or excess stock. - Vendor Management: - Identify, assess, and onboard civil material suppliers. - Cultivate strong relationships, negotiate terms like pricing, credit periods, and delivery schedules. - Ensure suppliers adhere to quality standards and delivery timelines. - Procurement: - Solicit and evaluate quotations, create comparative statements. - Issue and monitor purchase orders until completion. - Opt for cost-effective procurement methods without compromising quality. - Quality Control: - Work with quality engineers to verify that received materials meet specifications. - Reject or return defective or substandard items. - Inventory & Logistics Coordination: - Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or overstocking. - Guarantee timely transportation and delivery to the site. - Coordinate with the stores department for proper storage and documentation. - Budgeting & Cost Control: - Operate within the assigned budget. - Continuously seek cost-saving opportunities without impacting quality or timelines. - Documentation & Compliance: - Maintain precise records of purchase orders, invoices, delivery challans, and test certificates. - Ensure adherence to company policies and local regulations. - Reporting: - Create regular reports on procurement status, vendor performance, and material expenses. - Highlight any potential risks or delays to project managers. - Coordination: - Collaborate with site engineers, project managers, finance, and accounts teams to align procurement activities with project objectives.
