Purchase Manager

Role & responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with business goals, including sourcing, vendor management, logistics/transportation, and inventory optimisation.
  
• Manage the full procurement cycle: sourcing, vendor selection, negotiation of contracts/terms, purchase orders, delivery coordination and vendor performance management.
  
• Oversee logistics and inbound supply chain activities: coordinating transportation, warehouse receipt, stock transfers, ensuring timely delivery and minimal disruption.
  
• Perform

  ABC/XYZ (or similar)

  segmentation/analysis of inventory/spend categories to prioritise efforts, optimise stock levels, reduce carrying costs and avoid stockouts or excess.
• Identify, develop and maintain strong relationships with domestic and overseas vendors, drive vendor consolidation where appropriate, negotiate cost, payment and delivery terms.
  
• Continuously identify cost savings and process improvements across procurement and logisticsincluding supplier rationalisation, bulk / long-term contracts, alternate sourcing, lead time reduction, logistics optimisation.
  
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Operations, Finance, Quality, Supply Chain, Demand Planning) to align purchasing and logistics with demand forecasts, budget, quality and delivery expectations.
  
• Monitor supplier performance via KPIs (quality, delivery, cost, responsiveness), conduct vendor scorecards, supplier audits and drive corrective actions.
  
• Conduct market research and benchmark supplier pricing, logistics rates, lead time trends and risk indicators (geopolitical, supply disruptions, currency fluctuations).
  
• Prepare and present reports to senior management on spend & savings, vendor performance, inventory metrics, logistics cost metrics, risk mitigation.
