Purchase Manager - Coimbatore

Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement Planning & Sourcing:

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers for valve industry-

specific items (e.g., castings, forgings, fasteners, seals).

• Plan and execute procurement schedules based on production and

project requirements.

• Negotiate price, delivery, and payment terms with vendors.

2. Vendor Management:

• Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance delivery, quality, and cost compliance.
• Conduct vendor audits and reviews.

3. Inventory & Cost Control:

• Optimize inventory levels to meet production without overstocking.
• Ensure cost control in purchasing activities without compromising

quality.

• Implement cost-saving initiatives and alternate sourcing strategies.

4. Documentation & Compliance:

• Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and delivery.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, legal guidelines, and quality

standards (ISO, IBR, etc.).

• Coordinate with accounts for timely payments and clearances.

5. Cross-functional Coordination:

• Work closely with design, production, and quality departments to

understand specifications.

• Follow up on material inward and dispatch schedules.
• Coordinate with logistics and stores for timely material movement.

6. Market Intelligence:

• Stay updated on raw material trends, supplier movements, and global

price fluctuations.

• Benchmark prices and identify cost improvement opportunities.

Key Skills & Competencies:

Knowledge of valve components and materials (CI, SG Iron, CF8M, WCB,

etc.)

Excellent negotiation and communication skills

ERP system knowledge

Vendor development and assessment

Strong analytical and problem-solving ability

Technical understanding of engineering drawings and BOMs

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

MBA in Supply Chain / Materials Management (preferred)

10+ years of purchase experience in the valve/engineering industry
