Role: Raw Material Procurement (Tyre Industry)

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

• Prepare and monitor procurement plans for raw materials (e.g., natural/synthetic rubber, chemicals).
  
• Maintain optimum stock levels as per inventory norms.
  
• Develop vendors locally and internationally in line with company policies.
  
• Forecast demand and ensure uninterrupted supply to plants.
  

Market Analysis

• Track global/national markets for pricing, lead times, vendor capacity, and quality.
  
• Analyse trends to optimize procurement cost and availability.
  

Procurement & Coordination

• Source raw materials at competitive prices while meeting specifications.
  
• Negotiate contracts, issue POs, and ensure timely deliveries.
  
• Coordinate with plants, accounts, and logistics for smooth operations.
  
• Ensure supplier compliance and documentation.
  

R&D Interface

• Align with R&D on specifications, new material trials, and vendor proposals.
  
• Share feedback on material performance and support product development.
  

Cost & Vendor Management

• Negotiate for best prices and payment terms.
  
• Develop and maintain reliable vendor base; monitor performance and resolve issues.
  
• Explore alternative sources and materials; reduce transportation costs.
  

Logistics & Inventory

• Monitor shipments to avoid delays/demurrage.
  
• Implement JIT/consignment stocking where feasible.
  
• Conduct stock reviews and disposal of obsolete/surplus materials.
  

MIS & Reporting

• Prepare daily/periodic reports on procurement, costs, and inventory status.
