Note: This position is for a leading consumer products manufacturing company for it's green field facility located in Hiranandani Industrial Parks, Janapanchantram, Ponneri Taluk, Tiruvallur District. This is a company payroll position and not consultant role People who can relocate to nearby locations - Ponneri, Sri City, Gummudipoondi, and Red Hills can only apply Since it is a Green field manufacturing facility, providing transportation takes some time, and we need candidates who can travel by their own means. Job Summary The person will manage and oversee the procurement of essential factory supplies, including spares, consumables (oil, lubricants), MRO (Machine Repair & Operations), tools, safety items, and general purchases. The ideal candidate should have strong negotiation skills, technical knowledge of engineering materials and equipment, and the ability to develop reliable supplier relationships to ensure uninterrupted factory operations. Key Deliverables Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for factory requirements such as spares, consumables, MRO, tools, safety equipment & other indirect items Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors. Monitor supplier performance and ensure timely delivery of materials. Conduct supplier audits and assessments for quality assurance Maintain optimal stock levels of critical spares and consumables to prevent production downtime. Issue RFQs (Request for Quotations), evaluate quotations, and negotiate contracts with vendors Ensure purchased items met required specifications and quality standards. Handle discrepancies, rejections, and returns with suppliers. Desired Candidates Must be a Diploma / Graduate in Engineering with 3 to 6 years of relevant experience as a Purchase Engineer with a manufacturing company Must have prior experience in indirect purchase, pricing & negotiation skills, vendor management etc.
