Role & responsibilities

Key responsibilities (condensed)

• Conduct Psychometric assessments at admission and follow-up; identify social determinants.
  
• Create and review individualized psychosocial care plans; participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds.
  
• Provide short-term therapeutic support, crisis counselling, suicide/self-harm risk assessment, safety planning and family psychoeducation.
  
• Manage referrals (legal aid, social services) and advocate for patients social and legal rights.
  
• Run group sessions (psychoeducation, caregiver support) and support community reintegration activities.
  
• Maintain accurate documentation in patient files/EHR and contribute to audits, outcome tracking and QI.
  
• Liaise professionally with families, schools, employers, police and courts as needed.
  
• Supervise interns/volunteers when assigned; attend mandatory training on MH legislation, safeguarding and suicide prevention.

Preferred candidate profile

• MSW (Clinical/Psychiatric) or MA Psychology

  (or equivalent).
• 0 - 3 years clinical experience in psychiatric/mental-health settings preferred.
  
• Familiarity with Indian mental health law, social welfare schemes and local NGO ecosystem.
  
• Excellent communication in

  Tamil + English

  ; strong documentation skills.
• Crisis-management, assessment and basic counselling skills; team player.
• Residential candidates preferred
