Position Overview

This role is to be offered at either Mid-Senior Engineer or Senior Engineer level depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

You will be managing a team of Engineers and working with managers and responsible for Engineering and Design services during the proposal, engineering and construction stages of projects with strict adherence to the project contract for medium-voltage and high-voltage substation projects, both Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) and Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Substation, Rail, Infrastructure, Data Centre, Battery Energy Storage System and Wind Offshore & Onshore Substation, including but not limited to 11- 400kV range with an emphasis on project safety, cost, quality and reliability.

This position requires the ability to clearly and effectively communicate in order to successfully collaborate, coordinate, and resolve project design related activities and issues. It also requires the ability to independently manage design with minimum supervision. Good conversation and writing skills as well as normal tact and courtesy are required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Managing and leading a team of Engineers
• Preparation of Protection Logics and Interlock diagram.
• Review and preparation of Protection Single Line Diagrams, AC & DC schematic, cable schedule, core sheet, wiring diagram, specifications and BoMs for the substation design packages developed by third party or OEM engineering in coordination with other disciplines.
• Knowledge in Substation protection system and design philosophy e.g., Distance Protection, Differential Protection (High Impedance and Low Impedance), REF Protection and O/C & E/F Protections etc.
• Calculations Relay Setting, CT & VT Sizing Etc.
• Auxiliary Power System design like Low Voltage AC Panel & DC Panel requirements
• Preparation of SCADA signal list.
• Interface knowledge with Primary Equipment, Bay Controller Units /SCADA/RTU.
• Knowledge of Mimic diagram, Alarm system, metering system, SAS etc.
• Ability to produce (IED) protection and control device settings and configuration files
• Ability to operate the vendor specific software tools for modern substation automation and protection equipment (e.g., MiCOM Studio, DIGSI, etc.)
• Knowledge in communication architecture for the substation automation, teleprotection and SCADA system.
• Responsible for obtaining customer approvals for the designs and drawings.
• Identifying and clarifying technical ambiguities and conflicts in the documents
• Notify the Senior Team or the Client Project Manager of any difficulties encountered in the engineering and design that may adversely impact safety, reliability, quality, cost, or schedule of the project deliverables, and provide recommendations for solutions.
• Prepare, update, and support the project execution engineering activities in the schedule with emphasis on; On-time delivery and Quality of deliverables.
• Adhere to the company's quality processes and document control procedures to ensure design documents are complete and accurate.

• Maintain productive working relationships with team members, peers and customers, service providers, industry groups and other relevant stakeholders
• Carry out the duties of the role in a professional and ethical manner and in accordance with the Company's values and Code of Conduct requirements.

Knowledge and Experience

• Working with a team of Engineers of cross disciplines
• Good understanding in the application of protection skills, judgement and experience

Essential Skills

• Extensive experience in Auto CAD and proficient in 2-D CAD drafting
• Extensive experience in MS Office packages e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
• A high level of competency in written and spoken English
• Sensitive to agreed delivery programme, quality and budget

Other Requirements

Knowledge on the following will be an advantage:

• Knowledge of IEC 61850 substation network communication standards
• Experience in Auto CADRaster, Microstation, Elecdes, ELCAD

Other Requirements

• You must at least have minimum of 10 to 15 years significant design experience in the required field.
• Woking Hours:
• April to October: Monday-Friday | 10am 7pm
• November to March: Monday-Friday | 11am 8pm

(During peak periods, flexibility will be required)

• Salary: Negotiable and depending on experience.

• Probationary Period: Six months.
