Proposal Engineer

Responsibilities

• RFQ Management & Coordination

• Receive transformer requirements from the Sales team and ensure all RFQs are properly masked before internal circulation.
• Coordinate with the Design team to obtain design proposals and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Track RFQs, response timelines, and pending actions across teams.

• Costing & Quotation Preparation

• Review BOMs and derive accurate costing using updated component and material price databases.
• Maintain and update price sheets for key materials and components (core, windings, bushings, tap changers, etc.).
• Evaluate different grades and makes of transformer components for cost competitiveness.
• Prepare detailed cost sheets and professional quotation summaries in standard formats.

• Technical & Commercial Documentation

• Integrate designer's Technical Data Sheets (TDS) into proposal packages.
• Define payment terms, delivery schedules, and commercial conditions in coordination with the Procurement Head.
• Ensure compliance with internal quality and documentation standards.

• Reporting & Review

• Prepare weekly reports on:
• RFQs received/submitted
• Quotation lead times
• Design dependencies and key deviations
• Provide insights to management for improving quotation accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

• B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 37 years of experience in the transformer industry (power/distribution/pad-mount).
• Experience in costing, proposal preparation, or techno-commercial roles preferred.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of transformer design, BOM components, and costing structures.
• Familiarity with major component manufacturers (ABB, MR, Cargill, Voltamp, CTR, etc.).
• Proficient in MS Excel and quotation templates.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

• Excellent coordination and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy under tight timelines.
• Strong analytical and structured approach to costing.
• Ownership mindset with the ability to work independently and prioritize effectively.

Pay range and compensation package

CTC - Upto 8 LPA
