Role & responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop, implement, and maintain detailed Level 1 to Level 5 schedules using Primavera P6 (or equivalent software).
- Integrate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities into a unified project plan.
- Ensure planning aligns with project execution strategies and contractual requirements.
- Establish baseline schedules and manage change control to track progress and deviations.
2. Oil & Gas Project Lifecycle Expertise
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of upstream, midstream, and downstream project phases.
- Plan and track activities across Conceptual, FEED, EPC, and Operations/Commissioning stages.
- Understand phase-specific deliverables (e.g., PFDs, P&IDs, vendor data, MTOs, fabrication milestones, hook-up schedules, etc.).
- Incorporate critical oil & gas activities such as wellhead installations, pipeline tie-ins, refinery units, and offshore platform work scopes into planning.
3. Progress Measurement & Reporting
- Develop and manage progress measurement systems (physical and earned value-based).
- Monitor key milestones, KPIs, and performance indices (SPI, CPI).
- Provide periodic schedule updates and detailed variance analyses to stakeholders.
- Produce executive dashboards, progress curves, and forecasts.
4. Integration with Project Controls
- Work closely with Cost Control, Risk, and Engineering teams to ensure schedule alignment with budgets, forecasts, and risk mitigation plans.
- Interface with contractors and vendors to collect and validate schedule data.
- Support change management and claims analysis with schedule impact assessments.
5. Risk & Opportunity Management
- Identify schedule risks and opportunities, perform schedule risk analysis (e.g., using Monte Carlo simulations).
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions to minimize delays and cost overruns.
6. Leadership & Mentoring
- Lead planning teams on large-scale projects or multiple work fronts.
- Coach junior planners and ensure consistent application of planning standards and best practices.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across global locations and time zones.
