What youll do
- As a Project Manager (PM) in Computacenters Projects & Programmes Practice you will be supporting Lead Project Managers and also managing smaller/less complex assignments or workstreams on larger projects and programmes. These could be for external or internal customers. These may be stand-alone, delivered within a Projects & Portfolio Office (PPO) aligned to a contractual service customer account or be delivered as part of the Central Project Service Desk (CPSD).
- Your scope of activity can range from contributing to pre-sales, through delivery and into closure. You will need to understand and work with different commercial models (e.g. Fixed Price, Time and Materials or Resource on Demand). Your responsibilities will also include management and reporting, including the finances of the project.
- Delivery of a successful project will include ensuring the agreed products are delivered, effective communication, managing project controls (including risk, issue, customer dependencies and change) building and/or supporting your team and providing a high-quality professional outcome to the satisfaction of our customers and internal stakeholders. If leading a small assignment, you’ll be responsible for a services revenue value of up to £100K, this value will increase with your experience over time
- You’re part of the Projects & Programmes Practice in Group Professional Services.
- You’ll engage with other areas within Computacenter, including Consultancy, TRG (Engineering), Global Managed Services (GMS), Service Management and the Sales teams.
- Your line manager will be a Practice Lead from the Projects and Programmes Practice.
- Depending on the assignment, you’ll report to one of the following: a more senior Project Manager within the team, the Lead Project Manager (LPM), PPO Lead or CPSD Lead.
- If you’re running an assignment, you’ll report to the Projects & Programmes Practice Leader or directly to the responsible Service Manager, PPO or CPSD lead. When you report to a Service Manager, they will be accountable for the overall commercial outcome, but you will be responsible for the successful delivery of the project.
- You may lead a small team and possibly interface with our network of Internal Service Providers (ISPs). If leading a team, it will almost certainly, be a virtual and/or matrix delivery.
- You’ll report to your customer, alongside the assignment Lead or Service Manager and ensure the required customer outputs are achieved.
- You may work independently as well as part of larger teams, the location will vary depending upon the nature of the assignment.
What you’ll need
- Around 8 to 14 years of PM experience
- Has used Prince2 methods on the project (training and capability is required)
- Communication must be clear and concise.
- Must be able to demonstrate projects delivered Initiation and Planning will be evaluated.
- Must be able to demonstrate Stakeholder management – through the projects he has worked on .
- Trained in Project Management, for example Prince2, to Foundation level and working towards a Practitioner qualification or equivalent, Agile techniques.
- A demonstrable track record of delivering successful project outcomes.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships.
- Aware of the need to be Emotionally Intelligent, to adapt personal style and approach to meet customer needs.
- Be able to understand the Business outputs required from your assignment.
- Skilled user of Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Project and other relevant tools.
Project Management Experience:
Successfully managed end-to-end mid to large projects, each spanning up to one year.Experience Partner Management:
Skilled in managing related to hardware and resource/services.Client-Facing Role:
Extensive experience in client interactions.Productivity Tracking:
Proficient in tracking productivity, cost, and vendor payouts.Tools:
Experienced with SNOW, Intune, and Smart Hub.IT infrastructure Technologies that are relevant to this role.
End User Computing Background:
Knowledgeable in relevant technologies.Lift and Shift Projects:
Hands-on experience with lift and shift projects.PMO Background:
Proficient in project management office (PMO) tasks, including tracking and documentation.Cost Forecasting:
Skilled in forecasting project costs.Effort Estimation:
Proficient in estimating project efforts.Milestone Tracking:
Experienced in tracking project milestones.Escalation Management:
Capable of managing escalations effectively.Vendor Management:
Skilled in managing vendor relationships.Customer/Stakeholder Management:
Experienced in managing customer and stakeholder relationships, including working on-site.
Change Management:
- Communicate potential risks and issues (including dependencies) that are likely to require formal change to stakeholders as early as possible, to minimise future conflict/commercial exposure.
- Comply with/ensure the commercial approval process is followed in the required timeframes to minimise Working at Risk/commercial exposure and optimise our contribution.
- Ensure changes are agreed with the customer, or commercial owner prior to commencing any additional work.
- If there’s any change to the project’s approved commercial baselined deliverables (as defined in the SoW) all relevant stakeholders must be informed. This should include changes to cost (including supporting cost models), revenue, scope, timescales and any service impact.
- Update the project plan to reflect changes, when any change to an assignment is approved, ensure records are updated and stored appropriately.
Business Management
- Be aware of the account strategy for your aligned account. Help and positively influence that strategy if you can and understand your customer’s priorities.
- Support, as required, any Professional Services sales activity.
- Pro-actively look for opportunities to contribute to the development and growth of Computacenter’s Professional Service business. Contract Management
- Manage the assignment scope (or support the LPM with this) and understand the commercial baseline, supporting the development, negotiation and agreement of Statement of Work contract and any subsequent changes. o Work with the allocated contract manager (or support the LPM/SM with this) to agree customer changes to the scope, duration and costs of the assignment and ensure commercial acceptance of any change before the work begins.
- During the delivery of the assignment, you will contribute to our own the interface to all contributing teams, ensuring commitments are clear and reflected correctly in relevant Statements of Work.
Financial Management
- Support and enable the successful delivery of the assignment to the agreed financial baseline to meet (or exceed) the key performance indicators (KPIs). These are typically defined and agreed with the sales team and other key stakeholders in the Statement of Work and cost model
- Support or manage the financial performance of your assignment by contributing to or maintaining PEAT and completing the scheduled monthly Project Financial Reports (PFRs), which require accurate forecasting, invoicing and pro-active cost management.
Relationship Management
- If you are leading an assignment, you will create and manage the stakeholder relationships across Computacenter, its suppliers and the customer, ensuring that a positive and constructive relationship is created and maintained to the benefit of all, to support the achievement of our customer satisfaction targets.
- You will build effective relationships will all key areas of Computacenter and any third parties.
People Management
- You will be responsible for leading and shaping or contributing to the team to ensure the successful delivery of your assignment.
- Ensuring that all members of your project team are appropriately supported, heralded, motivated and engaged and that individual performance is managed in conjunction with their Line Manager.
