Job Description

Role Overview: You are being sought after as an Ex Armed Forces/ CA/CMA professional for the role of Manager Project Integrity Finance Strategy in Nature-Based Carbon Credit Projects, focusing on Regenerative Agriculture, Agroforestry, Biochar, and Enhanced Rock Weathering. As a Manager, you will be responsible for independently managing one project pathway and ensuring strategic oversight of project finances, compliance with standards, fraud prevention, and accuracy of reporting. Key Responsibilities: - Business Finance P L Oversight: - Manage project P L by budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting - Track budget vs. actuals, analyze variances, and implement cost-control measures - Provide financial insights, advise on revenue opportunities, and prepare investor reports - Collaborate with corporate finance and investor relations for project goal alignment - Field Audits On-Ground Validation: - Conduct extensive field visits for physical verification and inspect work progress - Validate beneficiary interactions, collected data, and field reports - Identify low-cost alternatives for efficient project execution and detect risks for cost optimization - Financial Compliance Audit: - Validate cost claims, ensure complete documentation, and conduct internal checks to prevent misreporting - Ensure adherence to internal financial controls, statutory requirements, and prepare milestone documents - Reporting Stakeholder Coordination: - Prepare audit reports, collaborate with internal teams to close audit observations - Present findings and recommendations to management while maintaining audit independence Qualifications: - Ex Armed Forces professionals, CMA, or CA with completed articleship and substantive audit exposure - 12 years post-qualification experience in Due Diligence, Internal Audit, Cost Audit, Statutory Audit, Financial Controls, or Project Audits - Strong understanding of customer contracts and carbon registry standards - Expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, and P L management - Comfortable with extensive on-ground travel, including rural areas - Strong analytical ability, fraud detection skills, risk identification, investigation, and problem-solving skills - Effective communication, stakeholder management, and investor reporting skills Additional Information: You have the opportunity to: - Be part of the founding leadership team of a fast-growing climate-tech startup in India - Build a global brand impacting climate, soil health, and farmer livelihoods - Work with passionate entrepreneurs and global investors driving sustainability innovation - Receive competitive compensation and meaningful ESOPs ownership in Varahas journey Role Overview: You are being sought after as an Ex Armed Forces/ CA/CMA professional for the role of Manager Project Integrity Finance Strategy in Nature-Based Carbon Credit Projects, focusing on Regenerative Agriculture, Agroforestry, Biochar, and Enhanced Rock Weathering.
