Job Description

As a Project Engineer (Mechanical) at SRDI's Biogas Engineering department located in Gandhinagar, India, you will play a crucial role in leading mechanical commissioning activities and ensuring compliance with project specifications. Your responsibilities will include: - Leading mechanical commissioning activities and coordinating corrective actions with third parties. - Validating mechanical designs, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment datasheets against project specifications. - Conducting site inspections of various equipment such as digesters, mixers, pumps, heat exchangers, compressors, and associated piping to ensure compliance and workmanship. - Diagnosing equipment failures or performance shortfalls, recommending technical solutions, and overseeing their implementation. - Implementing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to optimize lubrication, alignment, and vibration monitoring programs. - Analyzing operational data to identify mechanical bottlenecks, energy losses, and throughput limitations. - Collaborating with teams to enforce mechanical safety standards, lockout-tagout procedures, and incident root-cause investigations. - Preparing detailed mechanical performance reports and presenting findings to senior management. Qualifications required for this role include: - B.E./B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering. - Minimum 2+ years of work experience at any processing/manufacturing plant, with experience at Biogas/Waste Treatment plants being preferred. - Hands-on experience with third-party EPC contractors, Project Management, and Mechanical commissioning. - In-depth knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and rotating equipment design, along with proficiency in mechanical simulation tools. - Familiarity with relevant mechanical safety standards. - Excellent communication skills for technical reporting, cross-team coordination, and vendor management. - Willingness to travel regularly for site assessments and commissioning support. - Strong problem-solving aptitude, conceptual thinking, analytical ability, creativity, and learnability. You will be expected to have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis.
