You will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research in your area of specialization within computer science. This involves formulating research questions, designing experiments, analyzing data, and publishing your findings in reputable conferences and journals. It is essential to secure research funding through grants and contracts to support your research projects, and writing grant proposals will be a fundamental aspect of this responsibility. Collaboration with other researchers, both within your institution and internationally, is crucial to foster innovation and tackle complex research challenges. In terms of teaching, you will need to develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate-level computer science courses. This includes designing syllabi, preparing lecture materials, and creating assessments. Additionally, mentoring and advising undergraduate and graduate students in their academic and research pursuits will be part of your role, which may involve supervising graduate student theses and dissertations. It is important to stay current with advancements in computer science and integrate new knowledge and technologies into your teaching methods. As part of academic leadership, you may serve as a departmental leader or participate in departmental committees, providing input on curriculum development, hiring decisions, and academic policy. Your contribution to the growth and improvement of the computer science program at your institution will be valued. Providing guidance and mentorship to junior faculty members is also an essential aspect of academic leadership. Regarding service, you will be expected to review research papers for conferences and journals within your area of expertise. Participation in academic and professional organizations, such as program committees for conferences or editorial boards for journals, is encouraged. Engaging in outreach and community service to promote computer science and its societal impact is another important responsibility. Supervision is a key aspect of the role, involving supervising research assistants, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students working on your research projects. Providing career guidance and mentorship to students and junior researchers is crucial for their development. Public engagement is also essential, where you will need to communicate your research findings and the significance of computer science to the broader public through talks, interviews, and articles. Participation in outreach activities to inspire interest in computer science among K-12 students and the general public is encouraged. Qualifications required for this position include a Ph.D. in the required domain and a strong academic profile, including research work done, papers published, and/or presented in refereed journals and forums. Experience-wise, a minimum of 10 years of teaching experience at a renowned University/Institute is necessary, along with at least 5 years of experience in Academic Administration or Heading a Department.
