Job Description

Production Supervisor – Fabrication Department

Location: Dot Workplace Solutions Pvt Ltd, Jigani Industrial Area, Jigani

Key Purpose of the Role

To lead, coordinate, and supervise the fabrication operations so as to ensure high quality products, on-time delivery, safety compliance, optimal utilization of resources, and continuous improvement.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Production Planning & Schedule Management
  • Translate production plans into daily/weekly work schedules for fabrication team.
  • Allocate manpower, machines, and material effectively to meet production targets.
  • Monitor real-time progress of jobs; adjust resources or priorities in response to delays or unforeseen issues.
  • Team Leadership & Supervision
  • Supervise, mentor, and coach fabrication operators, welders, cutters, fitters etc.
  • Ensure operators understand the fabrication drawings, quality requirements, and safety rules.
  • Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, ensure cross-training so that skill gaps are covered.
  • Quality Control & Compliance
  • Ensure that all fabricated parts/components meet specified tolerances, finishes, dimensions, and other quality standards.
  • Implement inspection, testing, and measurement processes; coordinate with QC department (if separate).
  • Handle rework and scrap; investigate causes and propose corrective/preventive actions.
  • Safety, Health & Environmental Compliance
  • Enforce safety procedures; ensure safe handling of machines, tools, welding equipment, etc.
  • Ensure work environment is clean, organized (5S), safe, and compliant with statutory / company safety & environmental norms.
  • Conduct safety audits, incident investigations, and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
  • Resource & Inventory Management
  • Monitor consumption of raw materials, consumables, tools. Ensure necessary items are in stock.
  • Plan for maintenance of machines, ensure downtime is minimized. Liaise for preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure proper care and use of equipment, minimize damage or wastage of resources.
  • Process Improvement & Cost Control
  • Analyse production efficiency metrics — yields, machine utilization, lead time, labour productivity.
  • Implement continuous improvement methods (Kaizen, Lean, etc.) to reduce cost, scrap, rework, time.
  • Suggest improvements to layout, process flow, tooling or fabrication methods to increase throughput.
  • Reporting & Documentation
  • Maintain daily/weekly production records: output, downtime, scrap, rejects.
  • Provide production reports to senior management. Highlight bottlenecks, delays, quality issues, resource needs.
  • Ensure work orders, jobs sheets, drawings, SOPs are up to date and accessible.
  • Coordination & Communication
  • Liaise with engineering/design for drawing clarifications, modifications.
  • Coordinate with planning / procurement to ensure timely supply of raw materials.
  • Work with other departments (Welding, Machining, Finishing, etc.) for smooth downstream/upstream flow.
  • Staff Welfare & Labour Relations
  • Ensure fair treatment of staff, handle grievances.
  • Ensure shifts are managed properly; adherence to labour laws / company policies.
  • Promote team morale, maintain discipline and good work culture.
  • Health & Safety Training
  • Organize regular training for staff on safety, handling tools, use of PPE, machine operation.
  • Promote awareness of hazardous material handling (if applicable), fire safety, emergency procedures.

Qualifications & Skills (suggested)

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing Engineering (or relevant technical field).
  • Several years’ experience in fabrication / metalwork / similar environments, with forward role in supervising.
  • Strong technical knowledge: reading blueprints, welding processes, cutting, forming, etc.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, welding codes, fabrication standards.
  • Ability to lead teams, good communication skills, problem-solving.
  • Good organising ability, planning, time management.
  • Familiarity with process improvement / lean manufacturing is a plus.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From ₹20,000.00 per month
