Job Summary:

Primary Role

Overall machine shop handling, in terms of Man, Machine, Materials and different machining processes. 

Operations knowledge of CNC machines like HMC / HBM / VMC / VTL / JIG BORING / TURNING.

Knowledge of larger size component machining for both Iron & Steel parts. 

Component drawings study & Engineering drawings interpretation & Exposure on GD&T 

Implementation of 5S and other lean tools across the shop floors 

Training for operators on various subject to improve moral & motivation 

System Knowledge of ISO 9001 & EMS Knowledge. 

Employees training and Multi skills development for effective utilization.

Key Responsibilities

Working in Machine Shop and able to handle all Production activities to achieve Daily / Weekly & Monthly production targets with keeping regular reviews with Production, Planning, Quality and Maintenance team. 

 To monitor Production plan vs. Actual Production as per defined cycle timings. 

Reduce setup timings & Machining timings through process improvements 

Manpower Planning and monitor efficiency and actions to improve. 

To monitor Quality Parameters as per the requirements of Products. 

To ensure and follow all safety procedures across the shop floors 

To maintain Housekeeping with following 5S Standards. 

To Co-ordinate with Engineering and production teams to solving day-to-day trouble shooting by systematically with analysis. 

To Coordinate with concerned Departments for Designing of Jigs, Fixtures, and tooling for cycle time reduction in plant. 

Monitoring the PM of the machines to minimize the overall down times. 

Control of rejections & reworks by necessary corrective actions. 

Monitoring & control of cutting tools, consumables, spares to reduce the overall consumable cost. 

Planning competency & training requirements of subordinates to achieve the desired targets

Primary Roles on the shop floor

Check Manpower / Operators availability on each machine. 

Zero Reworks & Rejections to be targeted from machining scope. If any reworks happens to be taken up for rework immediately instead of loading fresh jobs. 

 Check and ensure Each machine loading as per Machine loading Plan given by PPC for minimum one week available in hand. Ensure 100% achievement by effective utilization of resources. 

Check the WIP of all components laying in machine shop as per sequence of Operations.  Check and ensure availability of all resources in terms of material, jigs, fixtures, tools, drawings, measuring instruments and ensure Operators all following given SOPs and WI as per machine load Plan. 

Rework / Rejection Control and providing CAPA and horizontal deployment of actions on respective machines. Records to be documented. 

Ensure discipline and Safe working practices in the shop floor throughout the working hours. 

Generating and maintaining Shift wise Production reports, analyses of downtime hours and initiate actions towards reduction and increasing the Output %. 

Monitoring and Control of Cutting Tool consumption and maintaining within targeted value by maintaining all individual machines Tool life monitoring charts. 

Planning & indenting of required consumables as per Monthly production targets. 

 Ensure Good housekeeping at Overall shop floor. 

Conduct Daily Gemba meetings with Supervisors and Inchargers.  

Work out new techniques in reduction in machining cycle times. 

All QMS documents, Monthly reports of Breakdown, Reworks, Rejection, Production Output, Consumables & cutting tools, Attendance of Operators. 

To be involved and support for MFT team whenever new part development trials and process change/improvement.

Qualifications, Experience

Mandatory for the Role - Mechanical Engineering Graduate with 15-20 years of Machine shop experience on Iron & Steel castings machining

- DME Holder with 20 + Years of experience in Machine shop

Desired for the Role - Work experience from reputed Heavy Machinery Component Machining Organization
