Role & responsibilities:

Job Title: Procurement Manager

Location: Chakan, Pune

Department: Purchase

Reports to: Head Operations

Job Purpose

To lead and manage the procurement function, ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing of

materials, equipment, and services while maintaining quality standards and building strong vendor relationship.

Key Responsibilities

1. Procurement Planning & Strategy

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Forecast procurement needs based on production plans and inventory levels.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through effective negotiations and alternate sourcing.

2. Vendor Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to ensure best value.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address quality or delivery issues.

3. Purchasing Operations

  • Oversee purchase requisitions, RFQs (Request for Quotation), and PO (Purchase Order)

issuance.

  • Ensure timely procurement of raw materials, consumables, and services.
  • Maintain accurate purchase records and ensure compliance with company policies.

4. Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with legal, environmental, and safety regulations.
  • Mitigate supply chain risks by developing backup supplier arrangements.

5. Coordination & Communication

  • Work closely with production, stores, finance, and quality teams for smooth operations.
  • Provide regular updates on procurement status, budgets, and cost savings.

Qualifications & Skills

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Commerce, or related field.
  • Certification in Supply Chain / Procurement (CIPS, CSCP) preferred.

Experience:

  • 7-10 years of experience in procurement, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Proven track record of vendor negotiations and cost optimization.

Skills:

  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and procurement software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
