Process Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop manufacturing process lines for masterbatch resin production (including black, white, colour, additive, and specialty masterbatches).
• Select and specify process equipment such as twin-screw extruders, feeders, mixers, cooling systems, pelletizers, and conveying systems.
• Develop PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams), P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and layout plans for new and existing production lines.
• Conduct process simulations and calculations (e.g., mass and energy balances, extrusion parameters, residence time).
• Evaluate and implement process control systems (PLC, SCADA) to ensure product consistency and plant efficiency.
• Collaborate with R&D, quality control, and production teams to scale up formulations from lab to plant scale.
• Perform equipment trials, commissioning, and troubleshooting for new lines or process modifications.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase throughput, reduce downtime, and minimize waste.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards and regulations.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation, SOPs, and support training of plant personnel.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong background PLC controls, working knowledge on electrical schematics and automation design
• Experience in equipment troubleshooting, process optimization and production controls such as SPC and DCS.
• Ability to work in a multitasking, multi-role and fast paced environment.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including VBA and macros, AutoCAD, PLC controls and programming software, SolidWorks experience would be an asset.
• Strong customer/vendor interaction and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in plastics manufacturing, especially extrusion, equipment design, process development, and polymer science is preferred.
