Job Description

The Principal Electrical Engineer plays a crucial role in interpreting internal or external business issues and recommending best practices. You will be tasked with solving complex Electrical-related problems independently with minimal guidance. Leading functional teams or projects and being recognized as a specialist in the field of Electrical are key responsibilities. You must possess in-depth expertise in Electrical along with broad knowledge of the Electrical discipline within the Engineering function. From laying subsea infrastructure deep below sea level to designing offshore wind infrastructure, we are at the forefront of the energy transition with a global team of over 30,000 bright minds. Key responsibilities include becoming fully familiar with project scope, specifications, and schedules, identifying concerns early, and addressing issues proactively. You will collaborate with various disciplines to develop clash-free designs, interface with different departments for input, and maintain close coordination with engineering disciplines and project teams. Documenting communications, preparing estimates, and ensuring compliance with specifications are essential tasks. As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical direction to Designers, review and approve design reports and procedures, and assist in procurement activities. Supervising and guiding assigned engineers, coordinating with Lead Designers, and ensuring engineering integrity within the assigned work area are critical responsibilities. Monitoring costs, participating in standards development, and providing training to staff are also part of the role. In addition, you will review and approve various design deliverables related to Electrical equipment and systems, participate in inspections and FAT, and provide technical assistance during pre-commissioning and start-up. Coordinating with vendors, reviewing equipment lists, and participating in key discipline deliverable approvals are key responsibilities. When acting as Lead Engineer, additional tasks include acting as the project-based Discipline point of contact, preparing bids and project budgets, and leading the Discipline team during project audits. Reporting to the Project Lead Engineer, Project Engineering Manager, or Project Manager, and liaising with various stakeholders, the Principal Electrical Engineer must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering with at least 18 years of experience in oil and gas. Detailed knowledge of design techniques, analysis methods, project coordination, and execution skills are essential qualifications. Strong communication and presentation skills along with the ability to ensure the quality of design deliverables are also required for this role.,
