Early Years School LibrarianRole SummaryWe are seeking a passionate and highly organized

Early Years School Librarian

to cultivate a love for reading and inquiry within our youngest students and support the pedagogical goals of our teaching staff across

multiple campuses

. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all operational aspects of the libraries while ensuring the spaces are welcoming, navigable, and reflect the curiosity of our learning community.Key ResponsibilitiesCultivating Literacy & Student Support
  • Instill a love for reading by planning and conducting engaging library sessions that introduce students to diverse books, authors, and literary genres.
  • Develop detailed reading profiles for individual children, documenting their interests, preferences, and progress as emergent readers.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching staff to identify, source, and provide appropriate print and digital resources directly linked to the units of inquiry and curriculum needs.
Collection Management & Administration
  • Manage the library collection lifecycle, including the full procurement process, from title selection and purchase through to physical processing and cataloging.
  • Accurately catalog newly acquired titles and resources into the designated library software system.
  • Oversee the physical arrangement of the collection, ensuring the library is easily navigable, logical, and accessible for young learners.
  • Ensure all resources are correctly prepared with accurate spine labels and barcodes.
  • Fulfill all administrative protocol and documentation related to book purchases, budgeting, and resource accountability.
  • Complete the annual stock check for the assigned branch(es).
  • Handle staff and student clearance procedures related to library materials.
  • Manage general stationery and administrative requirements for the smooth running of the library space.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

Required Competencies

We Are Looking For An Individual With

  • A genuine and profound passion for reading and children's literature.
  • A strong desire to work collaboratively with students and teachers to nurture early literacy skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with all stakeholders (students, staff, parents).
  • An organized, detail-oriented approach with an openness to learning and meticulously implementing detailed library administrative work.
  • Familiarity and confidence with technology, including working knowledge of the Google Suite (Gmail, Google Drive) and library management software.
Experience and Education
  • Education: Bachelor's or Post-Graduate Degree, preferably in Library Sciences or Literature.
  • Experience: Ideally 2+ years of professional experience as a Librarian, OR a post-graduate education in a relevant field for an enthusiastic candidate who demonstrates a strong willingness to learn the responsibilities of the role.
Logistics & Compensation
  • Residency Requirement: Candidates must be currently residing in Bangalore.
  • Branch Management: The role requires managing two branches:
  • 3 days per week at the Queen's Road branch.
  • 2 days per week at the Sadashivnagar branch.
  • Travel Allowance: A travel allowance will be provided to cover necessary transportation charges between the campuses and home.
  • Compensation: Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
