Role & responsibilities

Architecture & Platform Design

• Design and own

  enterprise PostgreSQL database architecture

  across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.
• Architect

  high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), backup, and security strategies

  for PostgreSQL platforms.
• Design and govern

  distributed database architectures

  , ensuring scalability, fault tolerance, and data consistency.
• Evaluate, design, and onboard

  distributed SQL platforms

  , with

  YugabyteDB

  as a strategic database technology.
• Define database

  standards, best practices, operating models, and runbooks

  .

Platform Engineering & Automation

• Govern database provisioning, scaling, and deployments using

  Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines

  .
• Define and enforce

  DevOps practices

  for database lifecycle management.
• Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual operations and improve platform reliability.

Operational Excellence & Incident Leadership

• Lead

  high-severity production incidents

  , root-cause analysis, and post-mortems across database platforms.
• Oversee

  performance tuning, capacity planning, and proactive monitoring

  .
• Ensure regular

  DR drills, failover testing, and audit compliance

  for enterprise databases.

Team Leadership & Governance

• Lead, mentor, and govern a team of

  DBAs and database engineers

  .
• Review and approve database designs, schema changes, and deployment plans.
• Govern team deliverables to ensure

  timely, secure, and high-quality outcomes

  .

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Act as the

  primary database architect

  for client engagements.
• Coordinate with stakeholders on

  change approvals, maintenance windows, compliance, and reporting

  .
• Communicate complex database architecture concepts to

  technical and non-technical audiences

  .

Preferred candidate profile

• 7 to 12 years of experience as a

  PostgreSQL DBA / Database Architect

  .
• Expert-level knowledge of

  PostgreSQL internals

  , query optimization, indexing, replication, and RBAC.

• Mandatory:

  Strong understanding of

  distributed database concepts

  (sharding, replication, consensus, fault tolerance).

• Mandatory:

  Willingness and readiness to

  learn, adopt, and implement YugabyteDB

  .
• Strong Linux administration and advanced shell scripting skills.
• Hands-on experience with cloud database services:
• AWS RDS / Aurora
• Azure Database for PostgreSQL
• GCP Cloud SQL
• Strong exposure to

  DevOps tools

  : Git, Jenkins, Docker/Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform.
• Experience with

  monitoring and observability tools

  : Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Dynatrace.
• Proven incident management and production support leadership experience.
• Willingness to work in

  shift-based and on-call rotations

  at client location.

Nice-to-Have

• Hands-on experience with

  YugabyteDB or other distributed SQL databases

• Experience leading

  database migration or modernization programs

• Prior experience in

  banking / BFSI environments

  .
• Relevant certifications: PostgreSQL, AWS/Azure Cloud Architect.
• Experience designing
