Postgresql Database Administrator (immediate To 10 days)

Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot PostgreSQL databases across various environments.
  
• Design and implement high-availability and disaster recovery strategies (replication, failover, clustering).
  
• Perform performance tuning and optimization of PostgreSQL databases.
  
• Develop and maintain database backup and recovery solutions.
  
• Monitor database health and proactively address potential issues.
  
• Collaborate with developers and DevOps teams to optimize SQL queries and improve schema design.
  
• Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible).
  
• Plan and execute PostgreSQL upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning.
  
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and external data security standards.
  
• Support CI/CD processes related to database builds and deployments.
  

Candidate Profile

Education & Certifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (required).
  
• Master’s degree or relevant postgraduate qualifications (preferred).
  
• Certifications (preferred but not mandatory):
  
• PostgreSQL Certified Professional
  
• RHCE / Linux Administration
  
• Cloud Certifications (AWS, Azure)
  

Technical Expertise

• In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with:
  
• PostgreSQL administration and internals
  
• Query planning, indexing, and optimization
  
• Replication methods: streaming & logical
  
• Backup/restore tools (e.g., pgBackRest), monitoring (e.g., AppDynamics), and database management tools (e.g., pgAdmin, psql, Patroni)
  
• Strong grasp of Linux environments and shell scripting
  
• Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines involving database components
  

Domain & Industry Experience

• Experience supporting technology functions in:
  
• Medical Devices
  
• FMCG
  
• Retail
  

Geographic & Team Collaboration

• Proven experience working in global, multi-region, high-availability infrastructure teams.
