Position Title: Planning & Budgeting Engineer

Experience Required: 5-7 Years

Role Summary

The Planning & Budgeting Engineer will be responsible for developing project plans, preparing and monitoring budgets, managing schedules, tracking progress, and supporting project teams with timely reports and presentations. The role also involves maintaining documentation such as minutes of meetings and managing payment plans to ensure smooth project execution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Scheduling

• Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and work sequences.
• Prepare, monitor, and update project schedules using Primavera P6 / MS Project.
• Define WBS, milestones, and critical activities.
• Manage schedules and ensure alignment with project objectives.
• Track daily/weekly progress and highlight deviations to stakeholders.

2. Budgeting, Cost Control & Payment Management

• Prepare comprehensive project budgets (materials, manpower, subcontracting, equipment).
• Monitor budget vs. actual expenditure and prepare variance analysis.
• Support management in budget reviews and financial forecasting.
• Prepare and
  manage payment plans
  for contractors, vendors, and project milestones.
• Coordinate with finance and procurement for timely payments aligned with project progress.

3. Reporting, Documentation & Presentations

• Prepare progress reports, cost reports, dashboards, and presentations for management.
• Maintain accurate documentation of budgets, revisions, approvals, and schedules.
• Generate cash flow projections, status updates, and risk assessment reports.
• Create, record, and manage all Minutes of Meetings (MoM) with clear action items and follow-ups.

4. Coordination & Stakeholder Management

• Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, procurement, finance, site teams).
• Support project review meetings by presenting schedule and budget insights.
• Assist tendering and estimation teams with planning/budgeting inputs where required.

5. Risk Analysis & Forecasting

• Identify schedule and budget risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Prepare EAC (Estimate at Completion) and FTC (Forecast to Complete).
• Conduct what-if analysis and scenario planning.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, Advanced Excel; Power BI preferred.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, scheduling, and project control methodologies.
• Ability to track progress and provide timely insights.
• Strong presentation and reporting skills.
• Excellent documentation skills (especially MoM preparation).
• Analytical mindset with strong coordination and communication capabilities.

Qualifications

• B.Tech / B.E. in Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering.
• Certifications in Project Planning / Primavera / Project Controls (preferred).
• 57 years of experience in planning, budgeting, and project control functions.
