Position Summary


The Placement Assistant cum Special Educator is responsible for providing specialized educational support to children with disabilities while also coordinating their vocational training and job placements. The role ensures smooth transition of students from school to suitable employment or skill-based opportunities, in collaboration with employers, families, and rehabilitation professionals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Special Education Support


  • Deliver individualized and group-based instruction to students with diverse disabilities.


  • Prepare IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) and maintain student progress records.


  • Assess academic, behavioral, and functional capabilities of learners.


  • Implement effective teaching strategies and adaptive learning methods.


  • Provide support in daily living skills, communication, social skills, and pre-vocational learning.


2. Placement & Vocational Coordination


  • Identify job opportunities and vocational training options suitable for students.


  • Coordinate with local employers, NGOs, and vocational centers for placements.


  • Maintain employer databases and track student placement progress.


  • Conduct pre-placement counselling and readiness programs.


  • Visit workplaces to ensure suitability, safety, and inclusivity for students.


3. Family & Stakeholder Engagement


  • Conduct regular meetings with parents/guardians regarding student progress.


  • Collaborate with therapists, psychologists, special educators, and center heads.


  • Organize awareness programs, job fairs, and employer orientation sessions.


4. Documentation & Reporting


  • Maintain accurate records of training, placements, employer communications, and follow-up reports.


  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual placement reports for management.


  • Support administrative tasks related to the special school and vocational unit

    Additional Skills

  • Strong understanding of disability categories, inclusive education, and vocational rehabilitation.


  • Good communication skills in Malayalam and English.


  • Ability to coordinate with parents, stakeholders, and employers.


  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Office, documentation skills).


  • Empathy, patience, and ability to handle children with diverse needs.


Qualifications & Experience Essential B.Ed in Special Education (Minimum 3 Years) OR D.Ed in Special Education (Minimum 3 Years) OR BSW with Minimum 5 Years’ Experience in a Special School
